Since last week when we met with Norwich City Council we’ve been having lots of positive comments on our Facebook page from people supporting what we are trying to do with the farmers market. The press has also picked up on the story and the council seem to have made their position very clear…..
It appears that they aren’t going to change their mind about telling us we can’t serve hot food.
It appears they are telling us they’d rather we went and found a different site to hold the market.
Its frustrating and disappointing but we are determined to find a way of having a market that is attractive to both locals and visitors and becomes a destination in its own right.
One worthy of a city as culturally interesting and diverse as Norwich.
One on a par (or better of course) than markets in cities like ours across the UK. We know other cities hold great markets and we think Norwich should too.
We’d like to be able to do this with Norwich City Council’s support but if they don’t share our vision then we will find another way to ensure Norwich has a great farmers market.
Please keep showing us your support here and on Facebook by adding your comments or becoming a fan.
If you want to read what the press have to say here’s an article from the South Norwich News (8 July 2010) and one from today’s Evening News.

I think it’s a great shame that the Norwich Farmer’s Market isn’t getting the support it deserves from the City Council. A vibrant farmer’s market would be a huge asset for the city and one that should demand support from everyone in the City. Keep trying and if we can promote the dates in any way, then please do let us know.
